VDAB Antwerp
VDAB Center - replacing two outdated building sections with energy efficient new construction.
The VDAB center in Antwerp is severely outdated, and in need of renovation. Two existing building sections will be demolished and replaced by an energy-efficient new construction. The new building includes an attractive reception area, a large dining area, meeting rooms and classrooms as well as some studio spaces. A compact construction was designed by the architect, with strong attention to proper insulation to minimize energy consumption.
To approach the techniques, especially strong consideration was given to the integration and elaboration of ventilation. After all, the building and the classrooms have a highly variable occupancy rate. A fully variable controlled ventilation system responds perfectly to this, and unnecessary energy consumption is avoided. An investment that pays for itself in the long run. The result is a comfortable environment, tailored to the needs of the people staying there.
