Renovation of Conscience Building
The Conscience Building in Brussels is owned by AXA Belgium SA and leased by the Flemish government.
On behalf of AXA Belgium nv, the building was renovated and made suitable for the principles of "The New Way of Working," with the main features being:
- An open and accessible building with informal and formal meeting spaces.
- An adapted catering concept.
- New communication networks.
- Ample meeting facilities.
- Energy-efficient technical systems tailored to comfort and occupancy.
In this renovation project, Ingenium designed and studied the necessary adjustments and renewals to the existing technical systems (heating, ventilation, cooling, plumbing, electricity strong and weak current) in order to guarantee optimal comfort to the users after implementation, with energy-efficient systems that can handle the higher occupancy rate.
The project was implemented in phases, with the rest of the building remaining in use during each phase. As a first phase, a new computer room was installed in the building, in order to be able to switch from the existing to the new computer room in phases during the following renovation project. The renovation project is subject to a Breeam certification with an ambition score of 'excellent'. Ingenium naturally included the necessary measures for this in the design of the technical systems, and we also performed daylight and comfort simulations.
Finally, upon completion and after commissioning, Ingenium applied a Commissioning process to the renovated technical systems.
