Poort West-Limburg is one of Limburg’s largest business parks and faces the challenge of transforming itself to continue developing as a high-performing member of the European Network of Business Parks (ENA). Ingenium provided support for two comprehensive studies.

Transformation Challenge

These studies combine urban planning, energy, economics, and project development, and are closely aligned with complex transition challenges in existing and aging industrial parks.

Both studies demonstrate the team’s broad experience: from a comprehensive strategy and energy vision to the development of an EHUB-BT, feasible projects, and financing options.

Study 1: Spatial-Economic Strategy

‍Researchinto the necessary economic and spatial transformations in light of nature, water, climate, morphology, context, and mobility.

A preferred scenario and work plan were developed based on spatial principles, design research, and financial feasibility.

The plan focuses on restoring ecological networks where spatial security is a priority, so that greater economic efficiency can be achieved.

Study 2: Energy Hub (E-HUB)

‍Surveyof energy initiatives and needs of energy-intensive companies in the area, resulting in priorities and an overall concept for the E-HUB.

A system based on generation, consumption, control, and storage, with project fact sheets, funding channels, and optimal coordination for each subproject.
