Energy audit of AZ Sint-Lucas Ghent

The AZ Sint-Lucas Ghent site is subject to the obligation to draw up an energy audit every 4 years. The energy audit must contain a list of measures that can reduce the specific energy consumption on the site. Cost-effective measures (IRR ≥ 13%) must be implemented within three years.

Client: AZ Sint-Lucas Ghent

Location: site AZ Sint-Lucas, Groenebriel 1, Ghent

Amount: EUR 20,260 (excluding VAT).

Period of implementation: 2024

Energy audit of AZ Sint-Lucas Ghent

In the coming decades, we face the challenge of reducing energy use and switching to renewable sources. For a site like AZ Sint-Lucas Gent, this will be a complex transition, which is why the selected measures from the audit were further framed in this broader perspective. The focus was on:

* Making heat production more sustainable.

* Readiness of existing buildings for sustainable technologies, by reducing energy demand and lowering heating output temperatures.

* Expansion of the PV system, to reduce the electricity consumption of it and meet legal obligations.

The first part of the audit mapped energy use (heat, cold, electricity, etc.), energy sources (heat grid, CHP, etc.) and technical installations, as a starting point for further study.

Based on site visits, a longlist of possible energy-saving measures was initially drawn up. In consultation with the technical department of AZ Sint-Lucas, this was reduced to a list of 13 measures, based on the expected energy reduction and practical feasibility. Each measure was further developed to calculate the reductions in CO2 emissions and energy vectors and to determine the profitability of the investment.
