Power decision model biomass sow farms
Within the framework of the Interreg NWE project TWECOM, a study was conducted on the potential for replacing fuel oil with woody biomass on farms.
Indeed, it was in the context of the West Flemish landscape that the greatest potential for biomass application in sow farms was estimated. The study aimed to gain insight into the heat demand (kWh/m²/year) and heat profile (adhv load curve/annual duration curve) throughout the year and this for the different types of sow houses in Flanders. The assignment involves collecting data from the field, modeling it as a function of a limited set of easily assessable or determinable parameters and using this modeling as the basis for a power decision model. This should enable us to communicate and advise in a more focused and accurate way on the application of woody biomass for heating purposes in sow stalls.
