School Lakbors
The stedelijk lyceum Deurne plans to build a new school on Lakborslei in Antwerp. This project, a combination of new construction and renovation, involves the reorganization of 3 existing school sites in Deurne, and will accommodate some 400 pupils.
The program includes a wide range of training, this in the areas of hair care, grooming, nutrition and office. This varying program therefore reflects on the design of the building. Characteristic of the building is its complex roof and building structure. The many diverse gabled roofs create an attractive townscape, giving the site the image of a "town within the town. The close coordination of the technical installations with this complex architecture is therefore typical.
To combine the sustainability story with the complex structure, a solution was found in providing a roof structure with embedded PV lamellae. In this way, the south side of the various gabled roofs is optimally utilized for electricity generation. The many gabled roofs also provide high classrooms without suspended ceilings, and where a solution was found in close coordination with architecture to coordinate the many techniques. The new building achieves a K-level of K22 and an E-level of E56, which approaches the BEN-label. For the renovation there are specific requirements ifv the concrete work.
