The " Abdij van Park " project is a comprehensive project comprising several subprojects. Ingenium was responsible for site supervision during the construction of the South Wing.

Restoration and conversion into a museum

With the restoration of the south wing and the prelature—following the roofs, the library, and the west wing—the next phase of the claustrum’s restoration has been completed. The core area—including the entrance halls to the abbey, the ceremonial staircase façade, the central kitchen, the richly decorated 18th-century salons and prelates’ quarters, and the Baroque stucco ceiling of the refectory—was restored during this phase. The vaulted cellars were opened to the public, and a kitchen was re-established for the Norbertines for shared use with PARCUM, the museum of religion, art, and culture. The 18th-century salons and prelates’ quarters, as well as the magnificent refectory, are part of the museum tour, which required specific climate control measures to be implemented.

The Norbertine abbey, along with its outbuildings, is being converted in several phases into a museum (Parcum), offices, and guest rooms. The restoration of the tithe barn is also a unique project. There, local farmers will be able to make their own cheese and sell the vegetables they’ve grown themselves.

Ingenium was approached because of its expertise in the restoration of architectural heritage. In particular, our approach—which involves integrating high-performance, contemporary techniques into the character of the building in consultation with and to the satisfaction of all parties—is a major asset. Respect for the building’s original character is one of the most important elements in this process.
