Maes and Boereboom Square

The Maes and Boereboomplein project in Knokke-Heist includes the demolition of the existing town hall and meeting center de Ravelingen, the construction of a new "Community House" and the reconstruction of the square.

‍Thenew 'Community House' to be built consists of one large 13-story volume around a central patio, which will house 10 levels of apartments, as well as public functions such as library, city council hall and a multipurpose event hall. In addition to the tower building, a low-rise will be erected that will provide space for commercial businesses, and the entire square will be redesigned. The concept design is by renowned Parisian architect Jakob Macfarlane, where Ingenium will continue to shape the iconic design in a construction team formula with architects B2Ai, developer Caaap and executor Artes.

The Community House will be a new landmark, 300 meters from the sea and the train station, in the heart of Heist. The tower with central patio has a footprint of 1,600 m² and is 13 stories high. The project guarantees a unique infill where architecture, sustainability and experience take center stage. To take the sustainability aspect to a higher level, provision has been made for a BTES to be constructed under the square. Each user (both public functions and each apartment) will be connected to this central heat and cold network via a heat pump, so that comfort during the summer months is also guaranteed (and the entire building is gas-free heated in the winter). The entire project is coordinated between architecture, stability and techniques in a BIM model.

In consultation with Artes, Ingenium is also preparing the specific execution model techniques in this project, which will be used on site.
