Sustainable apartments, Waterzicht in Vilvoorde

Sustainable apartments, Waterzicht in Vilvoorde

Between Zenne and Zeekanaal, on the 4 Fonteinen site in Vilvoorde, Matexi is building a unique landmark consisting of 70 spacious apartments with generous terraces with splashing water views spread over 7 floors. The timeless and refined architecture of the Waterzicht building was designed by the renowned architectural firm Kempe Thill from Rotterdam. Characteristic features include high ceilings and large expanses of glass that bring in abundant daylight.

The ensemble of 1 to 3 bedroom apartments, penthouses and modern townhouses are sustainably heated by means of a ground/water heat pump coupled to a BEO field. Condensing gas boilers provide backup and peak power. In addition to the heat distributed throughout the building by means of a combilus, cold water from the ground is also distributed via a separate circuit. This allows floor cooling to be realized with which the houses can be cooled without compressor cooling and with which the soil can be balanced in the summer period. For ventilation there are individual air groups type D with heat recovery and complete bypass.

Furthermore, the apartments and houses all have individual PV installations. Sufficient charging points for electric cars are provided in the parking lot. Rainwater is maximally reused for toilet flushing. Any excess rainwater will be infiltrated on private property with an emergency overflow to De Zenne.
