Passing of CEO Jan Desmet
It is with great sadness that the Board of Directors and all employees of Ingenium announce the sudden passing of their CEO Jan Desmet. He passed away from heart failure on Friday evening, July 18, aged 48.
Jan Desmet had been part of the Ingenium family since 1999, after graduating as an engineer and starting his career at Epsilon, a former sister company of Ingenium. He started at the bottom, visiting clients and working on small projects. Later, he became Business Unit Manager Buildings and COO at Ingenium. On April 1, 2023, he took over the CEO role from Nicolas Vyncke.
Speaking about his career at Ingenium four years ago, Jan Desmet said, "I am living proof that you can grow in this company. I got a lot of opportunities, from the bottom of the ladder to now, and I took those opportunities. It is hard work. Sometimes you have setbacks. You have to get over that. The successes you have to celebrate. Like Nicolas, I get happy when I see people grow and prosper. I work every day to make everyone at Ingenium as comfortable as possible, so that they can make their own dreams come true."
For the 130 employees and former CEO and Chairman of the Board Nicolas Vyncke, this loss is an especially heavy blow. "With his drive, his listening ear and his helpfulness, Jan embodied the DNA of our company par excellence. He took on the leadership of Ingenium with warm humanity that so characterized him."
Pending further decisions, Nicolas Vyncke will take over Jan Desmet's duties.

We will say our final farewell to Jan on Saturday, July 26, at 3 p.m. in the Blauwe Toren Crematorium auditorium, Zeelaan 2, 8380 Bruges.
