Several years ago, Ingenium became a member of EGNATON, the European association that aims to be the reference for the development of sustainable laboratories.
Keeping the energy and environmental impact as low as possible has been the goal in Ingenium's designs and advice for more than 50 years. In doing so, we consider all aspects of a construction project. From safety, architectural vision, standards and laws on operational safety to the budgetary preconditions.
For several years, Ingenium has been building knowledge and expertise in designing clean rooms for hospital pharmacies or food industry, for example, and laboratories for chemical, biological and biotech research facilities, among others. And also in these designs, sustainability is woven into all the aspects mentioned above. This, however, with the precondition that safety of people, the environment and the product dominates. But always with the necessary attention to avoid over-dimensioned, (control) technically obscure installations that are irresponsible with respect to user, environment and society, both in terms of investment and operating costs.
With this in mind and with its own knowledge and expertise in its backpack, Ingenium joined EGNATON several years ago. The originally German organization now has nearly 100 members including mainly universities, architectural and design firms and industrial experts. It strives for lower life-cycle costs and extended laboratory life, increased safety, positive impact on health of users and environment and greatly reducing environmental impact.
Ingenium actively participates in working groups on energy efficiency and ventilation in laboratories, two key areas within the sustainable vision.
Through this organization, Ingenium can further contribute to a more sustainable (lab) future and also better guide and advise its own customers through knowledge gathering and sharing.
