At UZ Leuven, a new biobank, storage liquid nitrogen, cleanroom tissue bank and tissue bank offices will be provided in the O&N4 building.

Since these functions have a large cooling requirement, a new cooling plant was built in the O&N4 building. Within this project, the cooling plant was designed. Cooling is provided by 2 water-cooled chillers, coupled with 2 adiabatic drycoolers. A coupling was also provided with the cooling plant of KU Leuven, which is located in the same building. This coupling will ensure that the underused heat pump of KU Leuven is better utilized by the additional base load of UZ Leuven.
