Certificates and sustainability
More and more clients want their sustainable construction project not only completed, but also certified.
Ingenium has several experts for the BREEAM sustainability meter. Within Ingenium we mainly focus on guiding the client and the design team in their sustainable choices and securing these choices during the construction process.
From the start of a project, we sit with the construction team. The various parameters or credits of the chosen sustainability meter are weighed according to the client's wishes and expectations. As the project progresses, we follow this up (studies, correct site execution, documentation of the measures). At the end of the process, a report is drawn up after which the certificate is issued. For the effective certification, we rely on our regular partner BOPRO.
With some 70 parameters or credits in 10 categories, BREEAM focuses primarily on the sustainability of buildings. Evident themes such as energy, waste, water use and mobility are complemented by also sustainable management practices and the use of sustainable materials, among others. INGENIUM has several BREEAM APs (accredited professional) who, in consultation with the design team, define and secure the sustainable KPIs during the construction process.
Other sustainability metrics we use are GRO - renewed label for rating office buildings - and TOTEM. The latter is a new tool from the Flemish government to compare the environmental impact of different building systems. This allows us to correctly estimate not only the direct but also the indirect environmental cost. This fits completely within the life cycle analysis (TCO) that is self-evident for Ingenium for each construction project. We can also offer support within the various sub-studies of WELL.
For the different sub-studies of the different sustainability metrics, we have in-house experts who analyze the topics in more detail. For example, we offer comfort simulation, daylighting studies, commissioning,... among others.
Ingenium also puts its experience and expertise at the disposal of authorities and building owners who want to draw up their own sustainability meter. This can be used as an extra evaluation tool in tenders or competitions.
