Heat grid and biomass plant Meerhout
The municipality of Meerhout wants a heat network for a new infill neighborhood to be developed near the municipal center. This district will consist of two school campuses, a daycare center and a relatively large number of houses (both apartments and single-family homes).
The heat for this new neighborhood will come from a heat plant with biomass boilers. These biomass boilers will be fed with wood chips from the municipality.
Ingenium is responsible for guiding the municipality in the rollout of the heat grid, the design, the permit application, the drafting of the tender dossier, the drafting of the derogation request for external heat supply (EPB) and the implementation supervision of the heat plant and heat grid. In the preliminary draft, the medium-term outlines for the heat plant and heat network were already established. It was decided to prepare the existing and newly planned buildings of the municipal school campus De Duizendpoot as much as possible for the arrival of the heat network in a first phase. Once sufficient heat demand has been created on the site, the heat grid can then be fully rolled out in a subsequent phase. For the design of the biomass heat plant, architectural firm Architekt-Nburo is working in subcontract to Ingenium.
